Training expands access to AI knowledge and skills. Our programmes work with civil society organisations, journalists, academic researchers and public institutions, particularly where knowledge and capability gaps may limit participation in the AI transformation.
Innovation explores ideas, approaches and technologies that can broaden access and reduce barriers to participation. We are particularly interested in innovation that responds to inequalities identified through our research.
Research provides the evidence behind FAIR's work. Our flagship Digital Gap Index examines inequalities in AI access, knowledge, skills, infrastructure and readiness. Regional initiatives include Africa and MENA, alongside country-level projects such as Sudan and Syria.
Policy & Advocacy seeks to ensure that digital gaps are recognised in discussions about the future of AI. We engage partners, institutions and decision-makers around evidence and potential solutions.
These activities follow one connected objective: understand where AI inequalities exist, help address them and contribute to an AI ecosystem that is resilient enough to remain sustainable.
