Who We Are

FAIR – the Foundation for Artificial Intelligence Resilience – is an independent organisation working towards an AI future that is resilient, sustainable, accessible, equal and fair.

Artificial intelligence is developing at extraordinary speed, but its opportunities and capabilities are not equally distributed. Access to advanced technologies, computing power, infrastructure, data, knowledge and skills remains concentrated among particular companies, countries and communities. This creates digital gaps that could grow as AI becomes increasingly important to economies and societies.

FAIR believes this situation is not sustainable.

For artificial intelligence to develop sustainably, the AI ecosystem itself must become more resilient. And resilience requires broader access, greater equality and fairer participation in the opportunities created by AI.

FAIR works to identify and address the barriers that prevent this from happening.

Through research, training, innovation, and policy and advocacy, we examine digital inequalities, generate evidence, develop knowledge and bring together organisations capable of contributing to solutions.

Our work is guided by a simple principle: the future of AI cannot be sustainable unless it is resilient, and it cannot be resilient unless it is accessible, equal and fair.
